Trump touts hydroxychloroquine as a cure for Covid-19. Don't believe the hype

The anti-malaria drug could be ‘one of the biggest game-changers’, Trump claimed, but there is no magic cure

Faced with a global coronavirus pandemic that is increasingly centered upon the US, Donald Trump has touted several drugs that he claims can help tackle the outbreak.

In March, the US president used a press conference to promote the use of hydroxychloroquine, a common anti-malaria drug, to treat Covid-19, saying: “I sure as hell think we ought to give it a try.”

Plantable Wrapping Paper is the gift that keeps on giving

Eden's Paper
Every time there is a gift-giving event such as a holiday or birthday, there is one thing which there is excess of at the end. Wrapping paper from presents is all over the place, and it will likely be stuffed in the trash, and end up on a landfill somewhere. Thankfully this decomposes, but what if it in itself could be a present on top of whatever it’s hiding? Less trash and more present, sounds great, right?

Eden’s Paper is a plantable wrapping paper that will allow you to stuff it in the ground after you tear it off of your gift. This means it can later become part of your meal. Talk about a gift that keeps on giving! It’s paper that has the seeds of various plants embedded into it. Currently there are only options for carrots, tomatoes, broccoli, chilli, and onion, but there may be more choices in the future. Can you imagine giving a gift in the Spring and having paper that could later become flowers or herbs?

While this crowdfunding campaign is aiming for Christmas, the timing might have been off a bit aesthetically. These have vegetable print on them to signify what they could later become, which doesn’t really fit in with the holiday theme. This is a great idea, but one that will likely be far more sought-after in the warmer months. If you are interested, putting in $20 will get you three sheets of whichever type of vegetable seeded paper you’d like.

Available for crowdfunding on Kickstarter

I asked a few friends whether they'd had this happen, then looked up the popularity of their initials/names over time. Based on those numbers, it looks like there must be at least 750,000 people in the US alone who think 'Sure, that's probably my email address' on a regular basis.

here ya go.... Okay, Chuck. Here it is. Prepare to become a legend. The trick is to blend the dry ingredients thoroughly and beat the wet ingrediients together separately.. Then CARESS the wet ingredients into the dry. Don't overmix them because it will make them tough. Preheat griddle to 375. Mix together. 2 Cups Flour 1 tsp soda 1 tsp salt 4 Tbsp sugar In another bowl beat together 2 cups Buttermilk 2 Tbsp oil 2 eggs 1 tsp vanilla Gently mix wet and dry ingredients together. Grease griddle -- Make smaller pancakes 1\4 to 1/2 cup batter. Turn when bubbles pop and do not close. (Hint: You may want to slightly increase the amount of sugar and vanilla according to your taste.) Once you master this recipe, people will beg you to make your pancakes at family get togethers. It really spoils them. Thanks again for a great time. It was so good to see you again.

Same here. I politely emailed them back advising them to phone the candidate instead. Also had an issue with someone setting their alternate email for their Yahoo account to mine, then they guy kept on emailing support asking why they weren't getting a response. Tried to get Yahoo support to understand but because I didn't have the responses to their security questions they ignored me. So annoying.

This Should Be Fun: Sen. Bernie Sanders Will Be On Budget Conference Committee

In what can only be seen as good news for people who like traditional earned-benefit programs like Social Security and Medicare, here's one name that appears on the list of Senate conferees in the upcoming Paul Ryan-Patty Murray budget talks -- Vermont independent Sen. Bernie Sanders. This ensures that beneficiaries of these programs will, at the very least, have one strong, supportive voice in the room who won't go down in a squishy heap of "grand bargaining." (I'm sure Paul Ryan is thrilled.)

Here is the statement from Sanders' official website:

Sen. Bernie Sanders was appointed to a Senate and House budget conference committee to create a long-term budget plan by Dec. 13 to avert another government shutdown. A member of the Senate Budget Committee, Sanders said he looks forward to developing an alternative to the stopgap, sequestration-level budget that Congress approved late Wednesday as part of an agreement to reopen the government. “I am excited about being a member of the budget conference committee and I look forward to working with my Democratic and Republican colleagues to end the absurdity of sequestration and to develop a budget which works for all Americans. In my view, it is imperative that this new budget helps us create the millions of jobs we desperately need and does not balance the budget on the backs of working people, the elderly, the children, the sick and the poor,” Sanders said.
